Join Us!

We are always happy to welcome new singers into our midst, all year round.  If you’ve been thinking about taking the plunge and joining a choir, we would be delighted to see you!  Drop us an email to ask any questions you have, check out our rehearsals page to make sure we’re meeting on the day you’re thinking of coming and, armed with the knowledge you’ve gained from browsing our website, come along to one Friday and see how we fit together.

  • The NEC is open to everyone above the age of 16.
  • There is no audition process and no prerequisite to read music. Those who read music will be happy to help you if you are unsure and our professionals will encourage you to learn this new skill.

  • The choir has a membership fee which covers its running costs. These costs include the hire of the rehearsal venue and the fees of our professional MD and Accompanist – find out more by going to our fees page.

  • New members get the first, rehearsal free and their first term fee at half the usual rate. If you have concerns about settling fees then please ask! Contact us here.

  • We sing together as a group and no one is delegated for solo spots in performances. You won’t sing alone unless you tell us you would be happy to.

  • Members are asked to be at all rehearsals where possible, particularly those immediately before our concert date, because we want to deliver the best performances possible and can only do that if everyone knows the music! Rehearsal dates can be found here.

  • The choir is a charity and we run fundraising events, from time to time, as well as our usual concerts. Members are asked to do their best to sell a few tickets to friends and family so that we have a good-sized audience for every concert boosting morale and funds!

  • Members have online access to learning resources to help them learn the concert programme between rehearsals. Singers should attempt to practise their parts at home to progress and feel confident throughout the term.
